Then Caldwell, Idaho might be the place for you. Located on the west edge of the Treasure Valley, it is a city in Canyon County, Idaho. With a population of almost 71,000 in 2023 (and growing quickly), it is becoming a favorite Idaho town to relocate for those who want a little space, and to save a little money on a home.
Caldwell, Idaho is largely an agricultural town, but the city has some really fantastic things to offer…including…wineries! The city of has worked very hard to revitalize the downtown area, and it shows. There are year-round events and activities including a 4th of July Parade and fireworks, a Mother’s Day Vintage Market, the rodeo, the Indian Creek Festival with cardboard kayaking, a farmers’ market, and the super popular Winter Festival that seems to be right out of a Hallmark movie. Indian Creek runs through the heart of downtown, and there is a paved pathway for biking or walking along it. Indian Creek Plaza offers new restaurants and a beautiful place to hang out. This little city offers some beautiful parks, and if you want to fish or cool off in the hot summer, there is Lake Lowell on the south side of town.
Caldwell, Idaho may not be the place for you to live, but it is on the top of everyone’s list for a visit because of the amazing wineries. Called the Sunnyslope Wine Trail, the trail has 17 wineries and vineyards. Not just any wines, but award-winning wines. And yes, they all do tastings. YUM! You won’t find wineries like these anywhere else in the country. These are all small family-owned vineyards.
