Welcome to the city of Middleton, Idaho, a small town with remarkable appeal just northeast of Caldwell and west of Star, ID in Canyon County. Middleton, Idaho is one of the many beautiful communities of the Greater Boise area with an excellent quality of life and a real estate market with many move-in-ready and new construction homes. Just 35 minutes from Boise, this friendly city has a close-knit neighborhood vibe and feel. The current population of this charming city is almost 12,000 in 2023.  This town may be small but trust me, it is thriving!  If you like some of the cities such as Meridian and Eagle but enjoy a smaller town feel, Middleton, Idaho is a great option to think about.  The people here are friendly, and every day more and more houses are being built. The location is fabulous as Star is about ten minutes away, and Eagle about 20 minutes.  Keep in mind downtown Boise is only about 45 minutes away, so many people live out here and commute into the city for work.

Middleton, Idaho’s “downtown” is a bit larger than Star’s, but it is a bit farther from larger shopping areas than Star. It has a distinct west side, which means you will most likely drive to Nampa/Caldwell for things like Costco and Target, and an east side, which means you will drive to Meridian for shopping/restaurants. The main street though town, State Street or Highway 44, gets very congested. It is a “make your own fun” type of community, meaning that you’ve got to entertain your family with things like fishing, riding dirt bikes, ATVs, or horses on the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) open space, etc… or you drive 20-30 minutes to Meridian, Nampa, or Eagle for things like movie theaters, family fun centers, etc…

The cost of houses in Middleton, Idaho is more affordable than Eagle, Star, or Boise, but more expensive than Nampa or Caldwell.  Middleton has 3 types of main housing areas: 1. Custom homes on larger acreage 2. Large Farms 3. Typical smaller home/yard subdivisions, and unlike Eagle, where the large custom homes tend to be for “luxury”, in Middleton, they tend to be for people who want toys, animals, and space. There are several new subdivisions being built here, ranging from custom homes on an acre or two to 1300 sf builder grade homes on small lots.
